The Weight of Millions of Years Flowing
14/12/2022
How to help a sculpture to float through the millions of years that compose it? The sculpture “Beine” presents a fragment of legs and was made by the Czech artist Eva Kmentová. The piece contains all the weight of the geological time of its materials, and perhaps more than looking for the missing parts, as an incomplete figure, it would like to dematerialize until it floats. Our work is an invitation to unfold the form to unfold the time and to share the perception with which Eva describes the beginning of her artistic practice, as "a great childish joy, or more probably the sensation of something beautiful to come".

Are we future sediment?
04/09/2022 - 09/10/2022
“Are we future sediment?” is the question posed on the five-meter-tall banner that has been installed at the NDSM at the beginning of this month. This temporary installation is part of a new project by Mexican artist duo Amauta García and David Camargo who are currently artists-in-residence at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. With this work, García and Camargo visualize the condition in which Amsterdam might find itself in fifty years; namely five meters below the sea. Read more about this installation in an interview in our magazine!
